One eye rescue- Muse

Rescue never sleeps, and this couldn’t be more true with days before leaving for Wyoming Muse fell into our lap.
Okay so this is going to sound a bit crazy if you don’t believe but if you know anything about “signs” by Laura Lynn Jackson then you know where this is going. The week before getting Muse from the shelter I received a letter of approval for San Bernadino county animal rescue partnership meaning I can go in and save dogs from the shelter… On Monday August 29th I shared the news on instagram in a story… a few hours later while eating my lunch I saw Muse pop up on a rescue page I follow. My heart raced… this was my sign. I put it into the universe and I received Muse. We were meant to save her.
Listed as rescue only because of an obvious eye injury stated as may need eye removal. Statistically black dogs are the least likely to be adopted because they don’t photograph as well, two strikes against her. Eye surgery is an expensive correction and let's face it rescues are over crowded and on limited funds right now. We like to focus on dogs with disabilities who need a second chance.

The honest and stressful part about Muses rescue was worrying about her being in pain and no vets were willing to see us that day. Luckily, I was able to get her into a vet the following day but had a very negative feeling about the situation. No empathy and urging me to rush me into spending $4500 to remove her eye. Yes $4500 48 hours after rescuing her.
Again signs happened I called other friends in rescue and asked for advice. I said I felt doubt about what I needed to do that was right for her. Months ago my little baby Echo was adopted by a vet. He is visually and hearing impaired and he needed the perfect home. How lucky are we that we had connected. I t was so great that I had someone I could ask for a medical opinion on a case I had never dealt with before.

Feeling frustrated and worried I asked Alexis (Echos mom) if she knew anyone who could review Muses eye and do the removal. Within a short time I had an estimate that was THOUSANDS of dollars cheaper and we could be seen and the surgery if needed would be preformed on Thursday September 1st.
Miracles do exist! within 24 hours my friends shared Muses story and we were able to all come together as a dog loving community and raise every single cent for her vet care. Feeling so “blessed” I cried when I saw the response of so much love. Again THANK YOU for all your donations!
I grabbed my dog mom friend Crystal at 7am we headed on our 2 hour journey to palm desert.
As soon as we walked in the doors of Paws and Claws I immediately felt relief. I knew this is exactly where we were suppose to be for Muse. Everyone at Paw and Claws pet care was so warm and caring. Everything that is needed for a sensitive time with an injured animal.
After Alexis got to review Muse and a few other staff it was clear the eye needed to be removed.
Before and after surgery
A few days after surgery Muse joined us on a road trip to Wyoming in our RV. We brought her play pen and she rode like the perfect little angel she is. Muse got to go on lots of beautiful green trails and see her first national park (Teton)
Before we knew it 2 weeks has passed by and it was time to come home, it was also time for Muse to go to her forever family. Our little one eyed adventure girl was going to make them very happy! Goodbyes are hard but rewarding.
